Endurance Estates were delighted to host a table of regional property professionals and landowners at a Charity Ball at Holkham Hall, Norfolk on Saturday 15th April. The ball was attended by over 250 guests and supported fundraising efforts for ‘The Big Oardeal’ a four man team joining the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge aiming to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic in December 2023. The team are raising money for Cambridge Children’s Hospital, The Norfolk Community Foundation, The Blue Marine Foundation and Challenge Wales and Endurance are proud to have been in the position to support the dinner and also make a donation towards the purchase of the specialist boat the team will row for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for around 35 days in their journey from the Canary islands to Antigua.
The challenge resonates extremely well with the ethos of Endurance Estates due to the historic connections of the Director’s family to Shackleton’s legendary Trans-Atlantic Crossing of 1915 and the heroic rescue of all of the crew. Tim Holmes commented:
“When we were invited to support this endeavour, we immediately thought of Shackleton’s rescue of the Endurance Crew in the James Caird and the similarities in the conditions the Big Oardeal crew will face in their epic challenge. We wish the crew the best of luck for their journey and admire their efforts to raise funds for the four well deserving charities including the Cambridge Children’s Hospital which we are very happy to support from a local perspective.”
